I optimized both hybridization chain reaction (HCR) and padlock probe technique to image antisense oligonucleotides for in vitro cellular studies. I did cell/tissue culture with mammalian HeLa cells. This involved feeding cells, splitting/passaging cells, and seeding cells in plates (for padlock and HCR). Extensive bench work was done adhering to experiment protocols and SOPs. I also imaged with Leica confocal microscope/Las-X software and used ImageJ macros, PowerShell, MetaXpress, and Google Sheets/Excel to quantify imaging data.

I researched nutritional studies and wrote about the healthiness of specific foods/ingredients.

I graded HW based on the rubric and key provided for a statistics class. I met with the professor to discuss areas the class was exceeding in and areas of improvement.

I researched cutting-edge studies in the field of psychiatry. I wrote about biological and nutritional psychiatry and designed handouts for patients and papers for medical professionals.

Underhill Lab

I grew hepatocytes on cellular microarrays to determine the effects of ECM stiffness and other factors on liver tumorigenesis. I cleaned and silanized slides, created hydrogels of various stiffness, seeded HEPG2 cells, and mounted the coverslips onto the slides to prepare them for imaging.

I conducted research in cellular reprogramming, focused on inducing changes in cell line expression. I cared for the Zebrafish used for research by the Dong Lab at Sanford Burnham Prebys. I performed gel electrophoresis to analyze PCR-amplified DNA samples.
