I view myself as an IT Journeyman, I adapt. I started on the mainframe as an application programmer, Assembler, COBOL, PL/1 and Fortran.I moved to CICS application macro and command level programming in Assembler, COBOL and PL/1.That got me interested in doing systems programming for CICS and VTAM/NCP in SNA/SNI networks. That also brought with it learning data communications, first on the mainframe and later in the distributed world.Along the way I picked up PC, LAN, Unix/Linux administration skills.My next journey was the hardest and most fun I ever had, I went to work for a startupcompany that was doing laboratory automation.My initial role was PC/LAN and datacomm support and Oracle development. My role changed as the business grew and added Oracle database design and admin, Unix admin,and data comm design for the various product lines being produced. I setup and chaired the Problem and Chg Mgmt team and was the senior engineer onsite. That took me into the database world and I spent the next several years workingon Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, Access, MySQL, Informix and Postgres across amultitude of operating systems.I went looking for something different and got into ops mgmt doing capacity planning and mgmt for a large distributed storage environment (~15PB)After that I was recruited into a database software licensing analyst role.Next up, an Agile environment reverse engineering old Linux servers, documenting and rebuilding them to a current supported OS version for PCI compliance and moving everything to a DevOps environment. I also supported a 10 TB Elasticsearch search engine. Well change happens and I found myself at an educational institute where I supported an Oracle Fusion Financials & Procurement implementation as a systems & business analyst.When you are not looking, sometimes opportunity comes knocking and my most recent adventure is supporting the Air Force Global Weather platform implementing several ServiceNow modules to replace an aging Remedy system. That has been my journey so far, now what can I do for you?
