★ Manage a county-wide fire and emergency medical service department comprised of career and volunteer staff.★ Lead the response to 16K+ emergency calls each year from 15 stations.★ Oversee the county’s emergency management functions.★ Manage the annual budget.★ Collaborate with county departments and partner agencies to build strong relationships.★ Won two federal grants, utilizing funds for hiring and training 23 new firefighters and EMTs.★ Manage rapid response times in suburban and rural areas.★ Introduced a leadership development program.★ Improved a revision process to promote heightened policy implementation and revisions.★ Introduced stronger financial controls of A/R and cash receipts, resulting in heightened accuracy.★ Managed efforts to achieve the county being designated as the first HeartSafe Community in the Commonwealth of Virginia, receiving the International Association of Fire Chiefs HeartSafe Community Award for Large Communities in 2014 with the county’s ISO rating being changed from a 5/9 to 4/4y.★ Led the county to being designated as a Storm Ready Community by the National Weather Service in 2015.

★Appointed by County Administrator to serve as Acting County Fire Chief and oversee all fire and emergency medical service activities within the Department. ★Member of the County leadership team providing direction on achievement of organizational goals and priorities. ★Maintained all other assigned responsibilities as Assistant Fire Chief while a search was conducted for the permanent County Fire Chief.

★ Directed administrative, logistics/fleet, EMS and training division.★ Shifted roles to oversee administrative operations, finance and accreditation efforts.★ Worked with department staff and partner agencies to develop/revise policies and SOPs.★ Facilitated staff meetings.★ Collaborated with various county departments and community partners on issues of mutual interest.★ Prepared budgets, reports and data for approval by the County Fire Chief.

★ Moved through a series of rapid promotions to Chief of District.★ Demonstrated outstanding performance in the strategic oversight of district operations.★ Led command and administrative staff in the 18 square mile district with a population of approximately 40K.★ Oversaw an annual operating budget.★ Presented information to district elected officials for approval and implementation.★ Drove accuracy and maintained total accountability for expenditures, overtime and other financial obligations.★ Drove improvements in staff training.★ Wrote district policy and operational guidelines.★ Conducted weekly command staff and officer meetings.★ Identified improvement opportunities.★ Established long term relationships with district leadership, labor organizations, elected officials, command staff, mutual aid districts and dispatch center staff.★ Worked with district staff to assemble a vision/mission statement.
