Prior to joining Updater, Mark was a Vice President at Square 1 Bank, an early-stage, privately held bank focused on providing banking and financial services to the venture capital industry. Mark was the Director of the bank's national early stage practice, called Square Roots. Under Mark's guidance, the program set records in new customer growth, division profitability, and financing received by the client base.Mark was responsible for launching Square Roots in Boston and NYC and was later promoted to manage the Division on a national level. Mark has worked with hundreds of early stage entrepreneurs, serving as an advisor and mentor in areas including hiring, operations, sales and fundraising. During his time at Square 1, Mark was selected as a member of the Bank's President’s Club, profiled by David Lerner's Venture Studio (below) and the Square Roots program received national recognition in tech and venture publications.

Member of small investment team with two primary functions: (i) support entrepreneurial efforts of BU faculty & make seed investments in BU startups, and (ii) manage $40M BU Technology Development Fund, an early-stage fund investing in Boston-based startups.
