My work at the FTSE Russell Indexes primarily involves the development of index-based investment strategies for both equity and fixed income investment products, I also provide extensive sales support for FTSE Russell's line of 'smart beta' index products. I work directly, and consult with, our institutional asset owner customers to assess their investment goals and recommend an appropriate product solution. In addition, I perform extensive editing and authoring of investment content to support our sales and product management teams.

I led Russell's commodity strategies initiative and established team Russell's expertise with respect to beta-centric and hedge fund commodity and managed futures investment products. Built Russell's knowledge base and capabilities in commodities from a base of zero to $1.8billion AUM across retail, institutional, and advisory businesses. I also was the team lead for the investigation and recommendation of emerging and niche investment strategies. Areas that we researched included commodities, shipping, and insurance-linked strategies. Worked extensively with product development team to define, build, and market investment strategies that incorporated the research output our team. Extensively advocated for the team within the highest levels of senior investment staff and Russell's executive committee.Participated on a team of senior research staff in the evaluation and evolution of Russell's manager research processes. In addition, supervised and mentored a team of junior analysts in the 'art and science' of investment manager research.

Analyzed and ranked a wide range of core, high yield, emerging market debt investment products. Investment managers that I researched included all the major fixed income managers, as well as many 'off the radar' boutique firms. This body of research was undertaken in an atmosphere of collaboration with Russell's Global Fixed Income teams in our US and London offices. I was responsible for leading the High Yield research effort and became the recognized subject matter expert at Russell in the Leveraged Loan market. Co-led a team of Russell associates and external contractors in the specification of a new, web-based manager research platform, fully integrated into Russell's manager research process. The project was performed using the Agile development framework. This $1 million dollar plus project was brought in on time and under budget. I was awarded Russell's Excellence Award based on the success of this project.Extensive experience collaborating with Russell institutional consultants performing manager reviews, presenting candidates for new mandates, and assisting clients in understanding the implications of various decisions in their allocation to fixed income investment strategies.Regularly advised on manager allocation decisions with Russell's fixed income fund-of-fund portfolio managers. Held a pivotal role in the design, development and implementation of customized fixed income mandates for several highly-visible institutional players. Authored a number of client-facing practice notes on various aspects of the fixed income marketplace. Co-authored with other Russell analysts a commentary discussing strategic allocation to the high yield asset class.
