Responsibility: Overall responsibility for Australian Unity’s suite of unlisted commercial property funds comprising office, retail and industrial assets valued at more than $1 billion, across a direct team of nine. Also managed an ASX listed office fund. Major Business Achievements:• Delivered great returns for investors: Managed and grew the office portfolio delivering an 18% pa compound return over five years to 2020. This involved the acquisition of assets, including due diligence and raising capital from existing and new investors. • Simplified the business: Led several successful fund mergers of closed ended property funds to create a simplified business model and an on-going annuity stream. The property business unit consistently exceeded its budget each year.• Diversified sources of capital: Key accountability for listing and managing the Australian Unity Office Fund on the ASX (ASX: AOF) introducing $300 million of new institutional investors to the business. This complemented a loyal retail base of investors across Australian Unity’s listed and unlisted products.• Project lead for a group wide change program: As Australian Unity’s project lead, worked closely with a management consultant to transform the Australian Unity Group into a customer obsessed business, focusing on $30 million of efficiencies and reinvesting some of those efficiency dividends into other areas.• Improved culture: As elected Chair of the Executive Leadership Forum within Australian Unity, I facilitated improving the culture of the Wealth business, in collaboration with 20 other senior executives, to focus on the consistency of experience, capability and development of people across the platform. • Initiated annual fund strategic plans: Led the development and approval of annual fund and asset management plans to increase transparency across the business and accountability for the investment team.

Responsibility: Commercial accountability for an investment funds management business (equities, bonds, diversified funds) and the sales team. Led a team of ten people during a three year secondment.Major Business Achievements:• Innovative solution to improve the customer experience: Substantially improved the customer journey and led the delivery of an innovative solution that is market leading – a dual access active ETF quoted on Chi-X Australia.• Led the successful launch of two innovative impact funds: Led the launch, go-to-market strategy and cornerstone investment for two impact funds; each of them the first of its kind in Australia – the Australian Unity Future of Healthcare Fund and the Australian Unity Green Bond Fund.• Strategy development: Led the development of setting our five year strategic plan to double FUM within 5 years, and successfully obtained board approval.• Increased the coherence premium across several functions: Led the execution of several go-to-market strategies, including setting objectives and accountabilities for several enabling functions to support the growth of various asset management businesses – ultimately developing a coherent and integrated approach to market.• Operating uplift: Created new operating procedures and policies to increase the governance of various funds.

• ASX-listed fund manager, IPO and M&A experience: Instrumental in listing and managing the Australian Unity Office Fund on the ASX (ASX: AOF). Led a team of internal and external resources to raise more than $150 million to IPO the fund, working with existing investors to deliver a successful unitholder vote, selling the fund to new investors through a new channel as part of an international roadshow, leading the defence for several M&A approaches, and on-going management and growth of the fund.

I jointly chaired a Property Council committee working with fund managers and other stakeholders canvassing funds management industry issues like RG97, regulatory disclosure and working closely with ASIC. I was the key advocate and author of a new voluntary practice guideline – adopted by two industry groups and endorsed by ASIC.

Responsibility: Overall responsibility for Investa’s suite of retail funds during the GFC with assets under management of nearly $1 billion and a team of five direct reports.Major Business Achievements:• Managed successful property funds: Fund manager for a wholesale and a retail fund, with primary responsibility of ensuring the fund’s investment performance hurdles and objectives were met, in addition to managing various stakeholders including unitholders, debt providers, asset consultants and financial advisers.• Improved investor relations: Materially improved communications with investors by outsourcing the registry function to a reputable and digitally focused provider, plus uplifted communications with investors to provide context around property markets in the GFC, a detailed review of the performance of Investa’s suite of funds, and an asset management case study in each edition – reducing complaints and increasing transparency.
