Westmill Solar Coop is one of the world's largest community owned solar projects. I was a founder Director and with colleagues we raised £6m capital through an cooperative share offer, and £12m via bank and bond finance. We have 1,500 members and work with ethical businesses such as Ethex to operative the project.

MECISE is a developing investment fund, created by and for renewable energy cooperatives. The fund is structured as a Belgian cooperative with Directors from the six member coops in France, Spain, Netherlands, UK and Belgium.

Chair the board of Directors which represents our 2,200 cooperative members. The wind farm was the largest community owned project in the UK when built at a cost £9m. Developing partnerships so members can buy "their" electricity.

Ethical property Company is a social enterprise which manages properties across the UK and is part of a wider partnership in different countries. I was a board member - helping direct the business, I also chaired the audit committee. This committee oversees the "Quintessentials" which set out the ethical values of the companies in the Ethical Property family.

Led the board - representing the 850+ active members and their £650,000 savings. Ensured the credit union meets FSA and PRA requirements, whilst being run on business like and ethical principles. Oversaw prudent expansion and development of new services. Reduced costs and improved services by joining a partnership of cooperatives. Expanded membership though agreements with local employers. Increased membership and lending whilst reducing bad debts.

Board lead on finance issues. Helped Soha refine its risk management, introduced a new treasury strategy and an innovative loan agreement with a nearby local authority.

Led work to establish a collective agency, similar to that in several Scandinavian countries, allowing councils to efficiently raise capital for infrastructure. Completed outline business plan, established working group with finance professionals in leading councils, developed extensive contacts with city investors and formed effective working relationships with European agencies.

Responsible for representing local authority finance in the national arena. Working with councils and finance directors across England. Developed and built business case for a UK bond finance agency. Helped design and launch local government productivity programme after abolition of Audit Commission.

Transformed outcomes of the Finance, Benefits, IT and other support services. S151 Officer. Reduced department running costs by 25%, resolved 7 years of qualified accounts, transformed attitudes in a previously demoralised department. Built strong relationships with all councillors and external regulators. Responsible for city council's commercial property portfolio.

Depute Director of a 55 person finance department in one of the most remote unitary local authorities in the UK.

Several different roles over a decade. Represented authority in grant negotiation issues, Subsequently Led and transformed the Internal Audit team, establishing a partnership with private firm of accountants. Undertook high profile management investigations.Developed performance metrics for the finance department. Managed our brilliant and inspiring cohort of professional accountancy trainees.
