Contracted to IPL Ltd as a Contract Network Engineer I was tasked with reviewing the existing network switched infrastructure, Wireless infrastructure, Datacentre infrastructure, and MPLS managed WAN across fourteen locations. Providing full documented network review and implemented best practices across the sites with a view to reducing potential networking incidents and ensuring predictive network operations.Configuration of Catalyst 9300, 9200, 3850, 3750, 3650, 2960 switches with changes to meet the best practices and the review document. Completing changes over 3 months within agreed change windows across twelve of the fourteen sites. Review existing Nexus 93128TX switch pairs per datacentre and identify best practices for further testing and scheduled maintenance.Support installation of Palo Alto 5520 series firewalls configurations and complete change requests for additional policy amendments, and objects.Testing of GlobalProtect client to determine if access is aligned with existing Cisco AnyConnect RAS client.

As a Network Operations Engineer, I provided support of Customer managed network and security equipment which included provisioning of new MPLS circuits, Centralised Internet Breakouts and configuration of Core and Customer Juniper routers and switches. Configuration and firewall changes performed on customer managed equipment which included Palo Alto firewalls managed by Panorama, Fortigate firewalls managed by FortiManager, Cisco Firepower appliances running ASAv instances. Provisioning additional services presented to customer managed environments over L3VPN’s.Configuration changes to customer managed Cisco Nexus 3048, and Nexus 9138 switches to enable 10GE Colocation servers to be deployed for Virtual hosting. Provided support against the above technologies as well as F5 LTM/APM virtual appliances for SSL Remote access services, with Vendor escalation where necessary due to bugs and deployment of patch updates or EPSEC updates to support the latest AV updates. Provided high-level design documents as part of service handover to customer and participated in design and service reviews on a regular basis.

Responsible for the migration of Provident’s datacentre network infrastructure Core migrating to Node4’s Managed Services network. This included connecting existing Catalyst 6509 core datacentre switches to the managed Nexus 9000 Core, Catalyst 3750 and 3560’s connecting to Nexus 3000 TOR and DMZ series switches.Migration of existing Core Firewalls hosted on legacy ASA5520 firewalls and FWSM’s hosted on Catalyst 6509’s onto a Cisco Firepower HA appliances. Working with core infrastructure and application support teams to migrate these services across to the new Firepower platform.Provided network support for the migration of existing VMware environment from HP onto a Cisco UCS environment, this included the migration of Pulse Secure virtual traffic managers and Service Directors.Supporting project requests for setting up load-balancer Virtual Servers on the Brocade vTM’s which are hosted in various environments such as Development, pre-production, production and also hosted on Azure under different Vnets. Network Product DevelopmentContracted to Redcentric Plc – A Managed Service and Internet Provider working within the Product Development team as a Network development engineer I was tasked with developing new network connectivity solutions based on Fibre and high-speed copper (FTTC/GEA) provided by Tier 1 vendors such as BT. Configuring various Cisco branch routers, such as Cisco 887VA, 891, 1921, and Huawei AR129 routers at the B-End and monitoring and troubleshooting from the A-End equipment such as Cisco 7201,7610, ASR9006 routers, and RADIUS accounting systems. Software upgrades of Branch routers to meet new recently released features from Cisco to support the BT connectivity solutions.

Responsible for the design and delivery of the Corporate Wireless Solution for the Head Office site located in Bradford. This included submitting both High-level and Low-level design documents as well as the installation and configuration of the Wireless and Security platforms to enable the solution implementation and successful sign off. As a separate project I was tasked with providing the design and delivery of a datacenter network solution that would support a new Blade Server platform, and integrate with the existing Fibre channel Storage Arrays SAN switches, connectivity to the Core network infrastructure and connectivity of a new Storage appliance.This included submitting High-level and Low-level design documents, procurement of network equipment from the Cisco Gold Partner. Installation of the new Cisco Nexus switches, integration of Storage SAN and Core network switches including Nexus 1000v switches on designated hosts to enable migration of VM’s from Physical ESXi server hosts to Blade server ESXi hosts, running various versions of VMWare.

Managed Service and Network Security Reseller.I was responsible for Customer designs, installations and troubleshooting of various Network and Security solutions including but not limited to Cisco Nexus 5K's, Nexus 1000v virtual switches, and Cisco ASR1002 routers to produce a redundant Datacentre design. Configuration of various firewall platforms including Cisco ASA's, Checkpoint Appliances, Juniper SSG's, and more recently Palo Alto series firewalls.In addition to the project implementations I also supported various customers managed services infrastructure including Extreme Switches, HP Switches, Juniper SSG, and Juniper SA appliances, Cisco ASA appliances, Checkpoint Appliances and Virtual Management systems.
