Transitioned SELEE’s Quality System from ISO 9001:1994 to ISO 9001:2000. Achieved ISO 14001 Environmental System certification. Maintained Ford Q-1, Alcoa, Howmet and other customer quality certifications. Continued to drive Lean Manufacturing (Gemba Kaizen) efforts throughout the plant and personally led many one-week Kaizen events in the plant. Responsible for three additional SELEE employees obtaining their Six Sigma Black Belts. Hired, trained and managed Field Applications Engineers in China and Russia. Managed inside Applications Engineering and Advanced Ceramic Shapes Design team. Assisted Sales Team in direct sales efforts in Australia, Europe and the Middle East (Bahrain and Dubai). Negotiated sales and manufacturing agreements for the production of a “next generation” filter structure and built the manufacturing line for this product resulting in $3 million in additional annual profit to the company. Responsible for all plant operations including Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), Scrap, Overtime, Capital Spending, Maintenance, Training and Inventory Control. Started up a new, $2 million Castshop filter production line that reduced headcount from 55 people operating 24/7 down to 20 people operating a single 40-hour work week. Introduced Lean Manufacturing principles at SELEE working with the NC State Industrial Extension Service and trained all operations managers, process engineers and technicians on Lean Manufacturing. Led or managed one week-long Kaizen event every two months from the beginning. Reported to President.

Responsible for implementing and maintaining ISO 9001/QS 9000 and Ford Q-1 Certifications and leading Total Quality Management efforts at SELEE Corporation. Focused efforts on Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Quality Operating Systems (QOS) patterned after Ford Motor Company's programs. In May 1996, SELEE Corporation became one of the first 200 companies in the world to achieve QS-9000 certification. Reported to President.

One of 10 key employees involved in a highly-leveraged MBO of SELEE Corporation from the parent company. Took over a sales territory following the MBO and was responsible for all sales, service and applications engineering efforts throughout the Far East region in an area extending from Australia/New Zealand over to India and up to China and Japan. Sales territory also included the northwestern US and western Canada as well as Iceland. Extensive and frequent travel throughout the Asia/Pacific region, the western US and Canada and Iceland. Grew sales in the region from $1 million per year to $4 million per year over a five year period.

Managed new product and market development for a Primary Steel Filter targeted at large steel mills around the world. Extensive travel to steel mills in Europe, South America and Japan. Arranged, managed and conducted field trials during the product development stage.

Directed all marketing efforts company-wide including sales coordination, territory realignment, distributor management and advertising. Worked with Field Applications Engineers on solving customer problems in using SELEE’s products.

Provided analyses of companies and markets in industries of interest to Atlantic Richfield (ARCO). Used financial analysis, marketing, strategic planning and computer modeling skills to evaluate potential acquisition candidates for ARCO Metals.
