Following the sale of my previous company I actively engaged internationally in business financial consultancy with a specialism in new startups, acquisitions, mergers and business disposal mainly active in the UK and Middle East. During this time I handled all aspects of target indentification, business valuation and due diligence negotiations following through to integration and subsequent asset disposals where required.

I was nominated and shortlisted to join the council of management for the Institute of Vehicle Recovery on a voluntary basis. Working with the chairman, chief executive and other council members we jointly decide the strategic and tactical goals of the Institute and in particular its extensive involvement in standards and training in the vehicle recovery industry. After the purchase of the goodwill of the previous trading partnership in 2007 I ran the new business as managing director for six years. During this time I oversaw development and growth in numerous areas in a very difficult, competitive industry through the recession culminating in an exit via sale of assets to a larger competitor.

Newly formed in 2005, the Road Haulage Association created a new specialist sub group to represent the specific needs of the its rescue and recovery industry members. I worked closely with numerous other committee members on industry issues such as standards, safety and was instrumental in providing the business & financial case for the industry on the new Home Office matrix of statutory charges in 2008. At the time that I left the council, I had been vice chairman for two years and thoroughly enjoyed my time serving the industry on a voluntary basis.

I joined the company as a third share partner on completion of my degree and took on what was a business in need of dramatic growth. I oversaw this growth through aggressive customer marketing strategies and the acquisition of two smaller competitors seeing turnover grow to nearly £3million and profit margins settling at between 10 and 15%.
