I have strong analytical and data management skills. Both skillsets are crucial to extracting useful information out of all the data that one may have available. For the past several years, I have been focused on building forecast models for various components of pre-provision net revenue, including both assets and liabilities. These models were developed using various techniques, from ARIMA and VAR time-series models to multinomial logistic regression. A model result is only as good as the assumptions on which it is built, so much of my time has been in developing a deeper knowledge of the macroeconomic landscape and the connections between economic forces such as consumer spending and employment.

Project Manager, Model Validation & BenchmarkingDiscover Dec 2014 - Jan 2016Riverwoods, Il, UsI participated in Model Risk Review and Assessment activities by providing an independently-determined alternative model against which a model-under-review can be compared. In benchmarking, I provided the assessment teams with valuable insights regarding the model development assumptions and processes as well as an alternative view of the forecast in question, which allows for a more objective assessment of the reasonability of the primary model forecast.I have modeled nearly all aspects of banking operations, from deposit gathering to losses and receivables for unsecured loans for both revolving and non-revolving lines of credit. I have also reviewed vendor models in these areas to assess efficacy and applicability relative to their use within the enterprise. ManagerEy Sep 2001 - Jun 2013London, GbFor eleven and a half years, I worked within the Insurance and Actuarial Advisory Services practice, though was frequently deployed to other practices within EY on engagements that required my specific set of skills and experiences, which were in limited supply within the firm. I was deployed on projects with global financial services companies, American auto manufacturers, and insurance companies and brokers. I have worked directly with personnel at all levels of client organizations, from staff-level through Senior VP, and assignments have required an understanding of operations and IT functions as well as the ability to synthesize new information quickly and develop new skills as needed.Though not an actuary, I was able to apply my quantitative and operational experiences to actuarial engagements. Actuarial assignments included managing and performing loss reserve analyses in support of an audit or a Statement of Actuarial Opinion and occasional pricing projects using standard ratemaking methods and non-traditional techniques, including the development of predictive scoring models. Beyond actuarial pricing and loss reserve analysis, I have experiences with many non-traditional actuarial applications. I have contributed to the development of risk-adjusted performance measurement models, with emphasis on the correlation/aggregation of risks. I have also assisted clients in developing tools for aggregating their credit risk exposure. Outside actuarial work, I have experience with projects pertaining to SOX-404 documentation and testing financial reporting processes. Due to my background, I acted as one of the technology leads in the actuarial practice, with responsibilities including coordinating the practice's content management systems developed as part of the firm's "Community" content sharing initiative and developing technology initiatives, e.g. technology skills training programs. -
