My experience with Mark dates back to 1990 when he joined us at Sullivan Bluth Studios in Dublin Ireland, where - with Mark's assistance - we produced four of the six animated feature films we created while in Ireland: Rock-A-Doodle (1991), A Troll in Central Park (1993), Thumbelina (1994) and The Pebble and the Penguin (1995). Mark was trained as a key clean-up animation artist. Starting as a trainee, working his way through the ranks of inbetweener, breakdown assistant, assistant animator and Key Assistant. It is as a Key Assistant the Mark became invaluable to our production company. Mark is diligent and most skillful as a Key Cleanup Animation Artist, keying the extreme ruff poses by the animator for other artists to follow. When Don Bluth and I were recruited by 20th Century Fox, to start up an animation studio for them, we brought Mark with us to the US to be one of Fox Studios' top key cleanup artists working on Anastasia (1997), Bartok the Magnificent (1999) and Titan A.E. (2000). Mark worked for Anvil Studios as its Animation Cleanup Supervisor from the summer of 2000 to 2002 on DreamWorks' feature film, Spirit of the Cimarron, and Sony's Eight Crazy Nights. Keeping in touch with Mark, I'm aware that he worked for Munich Animation as an In house Freelance Lead cleanup artist 2002 - 2003 on Jester Till, AFilm (in Copenhagen, Denmark) as Lead Key Artist on the character, Obelix, 2004 - 2005 for the film, Asterix and The Vikings. He continued to work in the European animation industry until 2005 when he was recruited by Arizona-based Fat Cat Animation and returned to the US to continue his career in classical animation.
