Designed mechanical enclosures, including injection molding, sheet metal, customer aluminum extrusion, paint, panel artwork, metal treatment.Planned/arranged all financial/budgetary details of capital equipment acquisitions (cost efficiencies/viability) and specified all machines/tools for small-scale production line (1,000+ assemblies/month) for RoHS compliance. Developed all reflow/wave thermal profiles for all assemblies. Programmed all pick & place/reflow/wave recipes, troubleshoot/maintain/repair all machinery. Designed/coded console applications including customer order database and test-equipment soft control panel I/F. Organized and established Altium Designer based design system, including creation/organization of symbol/footprint libraries, costing and 3D models.Provide all customer support including: phone support, troubleshoot/repair of serviced units, generation/layout of customer documentation (manuals, guides), website design/development & maintenance.

Founded & managed 20 person team for CSIC MCU Division consisting of applications engineering dept., publications (datasheet/appnote)dept., and specialized Technical Marketing Staff. Responsibilities included: business/budgetary planning, team resource facilitation, & product feature planning. Also planned/organized 400+ page DSP book project with 16 contributing authors and Editor-in-Chief Dr. Richard J. Higgins (now Professor Emeritus, Georgia Tech).

Provided engineering assistance -- implementation/design eval/insight, tips, tricks, solutions -- to customers using Motorola CPUs/MCUs/Development tools via phone and on customer site. Provided on-site assistance to: General Motors, AT&T/Bell Labs (Murray Hill), University of Texas Austin, Texas A&M, Black & Decker, Ford Motor Corp., many others.

Responsible for development/deployment/validation of all production processes on 2 year behind schedule/$3M deficit program BLU-91 electronic munitions fuze. After 18 months, our team accomplished previously unachievable First Article approval. Provided detailed analysis/data of tech data package in support of successful, corporate, $10M litigation. Designed test equipment − system/circuit/firmware − to functionality that was "unattainable" according to government representatives.

Lead engineer of small software group responsible for NSA COMSEC terminal software implementation and algorithm (robust frame sync) development. Coded/developed/debugged NSA-specified modulation/demodulation/sync/error control codes/adaptive digital filter software techniques (FSK, BPSK, 16-ary QPSK), Gold-code preamble detection for RCA's COMSEC STU-III terminal and its predecessor/successor (RCA proprietary ATMAC silicon-on-sapphire DSP chipset & TI TMS320 NMOS DSP. Coded/simulated/debugged/tested Hamming & Bose-Hocquengham-Chauduri (BCH) codes. Aided in coding/emulation/debugging of LPC-10 speech encoder/decoder.

Microprocessor (uP) H/W & S/W engineer for frequency-hopping, high-frequency airborne tactical transceiver system. SECRET clearance. Developed new uP-controlled techniques for significantly reducing frequency synthesizer settling time and linearize voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) performance. Assisted peers in troubleshooting/debug of TMS320 DSP-based intermediate frequency (IF) & baseband processing units.

Redesigned existing line of high-powered linear amplifiers for commercial installations. Utilizing commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) parts, unique circuit topology/packaging decreased product failure rate from 48% to less than 3%, while reducing assembly labor costs by 50%. Developed/built first commercially-available digitally-controlled analog dynamics processor.

Maintained all audio/RF equipment from control room, production studio, station-to-transmitter link to transmitter shack. Kept a heavily modified 1947 RCA BTF-10 transmitter operational 18 hour/7 day per week schedule. Built commercial, multitrack-based on-air automation system utilizing COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) parts, saving the station $20,000. Built predecessor to FMR Audio compressor and used for on-air processing.
