What most excites me about our profession is creating environments that leave a lasting impression on the lives of the people who use them. To implement that vision, the majority of my time on projects is spent verifying and incorporating a client's performance and programmatic requirements into a well conceived and coherently designed building. Three of my major goals for any project are: - meeting regulatory requirements, with particular attention to the Building, Fire and Accessibility codes and statues- ensuring that all projects achieve high performance and efficiency through detailed and thoughtful design of the exterior skin / envelope- managing and coordinating the Building Information Modeling (BIM) process from design inception through to construction and beyondIn my career, I have completed more than $200 million worth of projects of all types and sizes in both renovation and new construction. I have been fortunate that it has been a diverse range of facilities including schools, higher education STEM buildings and theaters, libraries, and community-based projects both public and private. Since first engaging with the Building Information Modeling process in 2007 through the Autodesk REVIT platform, I have been dedicated to becoming a highly proficient practitioner of the dark arts of BIM. I regularly attend conferences on air barriers and other exterior skin interfaces, work closely with manufacturers and exterior envelope consultants and visit jobsites of other projects in the office to observe and engage with contractors on the installation of a variety of products. In my spare time, when not being the best Husband and Father I can be, I spend my time reading white papers, viewing webinars and taking online courses in the fields of Fire Protection and Life Safety, Waterproofing, Roofing and Air/Vapor Barriers and the physical science behind how they work.
