A new building houses a groundwater treatment system consisting of pH control, oxidation, settling, filtration, arsenic adsorption, solids handling including filter press, chemical injection systems, and a programmable logic controller (PLC) control system. -

Designed water treatment system improvements, including: replacement of deteriorated horizontal sand filters with new vertical sand filters utilizing air scour-assisted backwash, modifications of chemical injection system to minimize use and maximize effectiveness of water treatment chemicals. A 500-year storm event in October 2009 required a trip onsite to perform jar and pilot testing to re-evaluate treatment chemicals and filtration capacity, making the system significantly more complex. Assisted with CM. Managed instrumentation/controls subcontractor. Regularly corresponded with USCG, construction contractor, and State of Alaska. Travelled onsite to assist with first phase of plant startup.Project Manager, Lead Process Engineer - South Whidbey School District owns and operates a well water system which has iron and manganese at levels that discolor the water and result in greater chlorine demand and lower chlorine residual levels in the water supply system. Performed pilot tests to determine the most appropriate and feasible treatment process for the well to meet SWSD’s water quality objectives for iron, manganese, H2S, ammonia, and chlorine residual. Due to influence of organic carbon on iron precip, determined that an ozonation-filtration process is required to treat the water. Design and construction management of the treatment system consisting of a CMU building, ozonation system, chemical injection system, filtration system, and backwash water disposal system. -

Was part of a team of four that executed the PTC46 plant performance test of an 800MW gas turbine fired combined-cycle power plant. Purchased, installed, calibrated, tested, and tore down all aspects of test instrumentation, including gas chromatograph, RTDs, thermistors, barometers, psychrometers, Rosemount pressure/flow transmitters, fuel gas sampling station, and Fluke Hydra data acquisition network.2000 to 2002 - Process Engineer, Kendall County Power Generation Facility, Minooka, Illinois, LS Power. Was a member of the team which designed an 1100 MW gas turbine fired combined-cycle power plant located in Minooka, Illinois. Responsible for producing detailed heat balance calculations and performance test documentation, as well as specifying various process equipment and instrumentation. Then mobilized onsite to the power plant for six months to assist with startup, commissioning and testing of combined-cycle trains and associated water treatment equipment. -
