I'm a privacy and information security attorney specializing in--among others--AI/ML products, consumer data issues, developer products, computer security, electronic surveillance, civil liberties, and civil rights issues. Today, I'm a Policy Counsel at Google leading product policy for Google's API privacy and security program and leading product policy for various Gen AI/ML products. This includes products like AI Studio, Google Labs (Alphabet's in-house incubators), Workspace, TensorFlow, Code Complete, and Fitbit. My work also includes leading xfn work in foundational models, Gen AI/ML APIs, data portability, and Gen AI abuse/content policies. Most recently I've been focused on Gen AI API privacy/security, third party data sharing, fairness, adversarial testing, and alignment issues. Previously, I was part of the core Google team that successfully obtained EU Commission approval of the Fitbit acquisition, as well as the subject matter expert on privacy and security requirements for developers, third-party data sharing, and Google APIs. I was also the Global Policy and Standards lead on Google Fit, on privacy issues related to Chrome Web Store, as well as content policies on Google Workspace, Photos, Tenor, TensorFlow, and other Google products. Before Google, I was Counsel to Board Member Travis LeBlanc on the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board, a law student at the Berkeley School of Law, and the Civil Liberties Legislative Lead at the Electronic Frontier Foundation where I specialized on consumer data privacy, electronic surveillance, national security, and privacy law.
