About Mark Mobach

Mark focuses on users in space and organization. Better buildings for people and better coherence between spaces and services. His work has a focus on positive change: by improving spaces and services, organizations will perform better. Over the years, the research team has combined disciplines such as facility management, real estate, (interior) architecture, building physics, medicine, nursing, human movement sciences, organization science, psychology, and spatial sciences. With his team Mark is involved in research projects of education, healthcare, offices, penitentiaries, and train stations. The team of 18 researchers is particularly interested in the health and well-being of users in the built environment. Projects are on the crossroads of research, practice, and education. He is actively involved in various facility management projects and is also an invited speaker to conferences and master classes relevant to the field. By doing so, with his team he seeks to advance and disseminate knowledge and innovations in facility management regionally, nationally, and internationally.

    The research group Facility Management of the Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen, The Netherlands, seeks to advance the professionalization of the built environment. Multidisciplinary practice-oriented research is conducted into space and organization. Knowledge development in facility management is combined with disciplines such as (interior) architecture, building physics, medicine, nursing, human movement sciences, organization science, real estate, psychology, and spatial sciences. The research has a focus on positive change: by improving spaces and services, organizations will perform better. The group focuses on evidence and application. Practice-oriented research, such as in offices, healthcare, and education, is linked to education. The research group has experience with research into healthy buildings: buildings and organizations that demonstrably promote the health and well-being of their users. Their work contributes to knowledge development and knowledge dissemination in facility management regionally, nationally, and internationally. The group contends that studying the impact of the built environment and related facilities on people and organizations is not only important and highly relevant for progress, it is also great fun to do. The research group works in a partnership with the research group Spatial Environment and the User of The Hague University of Applied Sciences, The Netherlands.

    At our Research Centre for Built Environment, NoorderRuimte we share our curiosity and passion to (re)design a better built environment for humans. Our centre focuses on a resilient built environment for humans where earthquake resistance, health & well-being, liveability, and sustainability are paramount. In our projects we rely on the expertise of well over 50 researchers and 20 Ph.D.-students in architecture, civil engineering, construction management, facility management, and real estate management.
