As a Career Counsellor/Job Developer at Youth Employment Services (YES) I work with both my clients and colleagues to develop a toolbox of skills rooted in both career development theory and practical skills for helping clients find work. I have learned not only how different socioeconomic factors can impact the search for work, but the tips and knowledge needed to write a successful resume and cover letter. Further, I have learned how to coach and teach others how to successfully conduct job searches through both traditional networking strategies and online job searches.Personally, I believe in the power of sharing knowledge with others. As someone with multiple disabilities, I have a passion for helping other individuals with disabilities reach their full potential in their work life. I do this by sharing my own personal experiences with clients on how to be successful in networking and job searching as an individual with a disability, and how my clients can highlight to potential employers the benefits of hiring individuals with disabilities.

I drafted and edited posts for the READ Initiative’s Twitter and LinkedIn accounts using the Hootsuite content creation platform. Finally, I ensured all social media content drafted included the ability to be read by individuals with disabilities once posted. -
Field Placement StudentGeorgian College Sep 2021 - Jan 2022As a Field Placement Student with the Co-operative Education and Career Success Department, I assisted Georgian College staff in reviewing and advising Georgian College students on resume and cover letter writing. In addition I gave multiple presentations to students with disabilities on soft skills required in the workplace and how to have a successful job interview as student with a disability. Finally, I co-facilitated with a Georgian staff member virtual student job search peer support group using Cisco WebEx virtual meeting software. -

Fied Placement Student/Communications InternCity Of Orillia May 2018 - Jun 2018Orillia OntarioWhile completing a Field Placement in the City of Orillia Clerk’s Department under the Manager of Communications, I drafted and edited strategic communications plans for public feedback surveys, which I then presented to the Chief Administrative Officer of the City of Orillia. Further I researched and prepared daily media monitoring emails and sent them to the Mayor, select City Councillors and City of Orillia staff. Finally, I monitored the City of Orillia's social media channels for questions, comments or concerns via our Hootsuite account on a constant daily basis in order to develop a response strategy and notify the appropriate City of Orillia staff for follow up. -
