I have over 40 years' experience in the insurance industry, working extensively on both the insurance and reinsurance sides of the industry. My particular area of expertise is the management of claims and the response of the insurance/reinsurance contract to those claims.I began as an underwriter and claims manager in workers' compensation and moved on to the Munich Reinsurance Company of Australia Limited where I worked in the positions of National Claims Manager, Corporate Legal Officer and Service Division Manager. I was exposed to most of the major losses that affected the Australian insurance industry in the 80s and 90s.At Reinsurance Australia Corporation Limited I worked in a number of roles for over ten years, culminating in the position of Chief Executive Officer Run-off Services. During this time I furthered my experience in the international insurance market. I set-up a branch office in Miami and was General Manager for one year and established back office functions in Sydney, Paris and Monaco. My final achievement at Reinsurance Australia was the management of the run-off where I oversaw the reduction of AUD1.3 billion in run-off liabilities to below AUD1 million, whilst at the same time growing net assets.I became a Bachelor of Laws in 1984 and was admitted as Barrister of the Supreme Court of NSW in 1988.
