Project delivery of multi-million dollar projects on behalf of the wholesale energy trading business.Achievements Successful agile project delivery of an Electricity position reporting capability. ETL and transformation of all electricity (& 'green') trade contracts, as well as associated risk models and reporting, to an Oracle data warehouse solution enabling replacement of legacy energy data store. Successful project delivery of an Oil Trading & Risk system.  Successful project delivery of an electricity bidding system.

Reporting directly to the CIO/CTO, this role was responsible for leading all web and related application software development and support activities. Accountable for: Manage a team of 60+ IT professionals (developers, testers, PMs, BAs) situated in various offices located in Australia, U.S.A. and the Philippines.  Responsible for $5m p.a. IT budget. Development of financial plans and monitoring of budgets to ensure achievement of financial targets Development and support of all of Melbourne IT websites and back-end systems, including responsibility for all testing activities.  Technical project delivery, including management of PMO, responsible for effective management of demand pipeline and timely allocation/utilisation of IT resources.Major Achievements Spearheaded overhaul of software development approach that resulted in demonstrable improvement in team productivity. Identified and implemented consistent and contemporary practices, including introduction of a CI-CD framework and adoption of a “DevOps” culture.  Adoption of Agile delivery principles Egs. SCRUM. Championed iterative/continuous change approach and “fail fast” mentality, supported by appropriate measure of success via use of analytics tools. Rate of change on main websites increased (from weekly to daily) resulting in direct positive impact on online revenue. Sponsored and drove the creation of fully automated regression test suites for key applications, thereby reducing cycle times and improving overall quality.  Transitioned key services to public (AWS) cloud; thereby significantly improving system stability/availability and lowering overall costs  Managed refresh of all major company websites, including migration from legacy to contemporary web (AngularJS) framework, creation of scalable/robust API (including micro services), updated UX and responsive design.  Successfully established a flexible offshore IT development capability.

Initially appointed to manage development across the bank’s merchant acquiring asset portfolio, this role was expanded to further incorporate responsibility for all credit card interfaces.
