Group Director Cre & Workspace
CurrentAs Group Director CRE & Workspace, I am responsible for Real Estate, Workspace Management, Health & Safety (both the corporate & retail estates) & Physical Security. Flutter employs 27,500 people across the globe and after recent acquisitions the combined business has a number of duplicate properties and roles, as well as some inconsistent policies and procedures. My three priorities currently are to build a single team, to refine the property strategy and deliver upon the integration milestones and to create an engaging working environment for all our staff. Since joining Flutter, I have focused on the following activities:Repositioned the CRE & Workspace Management team away from a site focused model to a business focused model which delivers greater consistency and efficiency for the business.Initiated the Hybrid Workspace programme across our Global office foot print which once finished will create a transformed working environment which will provide the environment and flexibility to support collaboration in a post COVID world.Introduced agile working to the business which has led to the removal of 800 desks from our UK and Irish estates saving £2.8m p.a. and allowing us to better utilise our property footprint.Established a new Health & Safety team which supports the entire business including our retail operations in the UK, ROI, Georgia and the US. Transformed how we manage real estate risk which included aligning and standardising policies and recalibrating how real estate risk is measured and controlled within the business. Members of my team led key aspects of our response to the COVID 19 pandemic.Outsourced the workspace team across our key business locations which has reduced our operating costs and improved the productivity of the team
Global Workplace Director
As Global Workplace Director at King, I was responsible for Real Estate, Facilities, Health & Safety, Physical Security & Global Events Management. Prior to the acquisition by Activision Blizzard, in early 2016, I reported directly to the CFO and post acquisition I reported to the CPO. Culture, people and the working environment were at the heart of the strategy for the business. Working with the CPO allowed my team to ensure the workplace environment fully reflected and contributed to the culture and success of the business. This was a newly created role. When I joined King, the business employed 735 people which over three years grew to 2,200 people. My key achievements were:Developing a workplace strategy suitable for the transition from a high growth start up to NASDAQ listed business. The strategy focussed on creating an engaging, agile and healthy working environment which was consistent with the core culture and values of the business, yet flexible enough to ensure the local entrepreneurial environment of developing market leading games was not lost. Providing for scalability and the flexibility to support the office and infrastructure needs of a fast-growing business. This included identifying, negotiating, designing and building 18 offices in 14 countries and executing 25 property transactions over a period of 26 months.Establishing a multidisciplinary Facilities team across the business and around the globe, which was responsive to the ever-changing needs of the business.
Global Facilities Director
Director, European Real Estate & Facilities
I joined Acxiom in July 2009, to fill a newly created role of Head of Property and Facilities EMEA. My main objectives were to review the strategy behind the European facilities operations, to deliver significant property and operational savings, to improve the performance and reliability of business critical Data Centres and to focus on delivering a higher quality of space and level of support. The largest savings were achieved through an overhaul and rationalisation of the property estate, which included conducting 18 property transactions over a period 24 months. These transactions included a new European Head Office in London, new offices in Paris, Amsterdam, and closure of offices in London, Teddington and Warsaw.Reporting to the European Board via the CFO EMEA, I worked closely with the Board to ensure the property strategy aligned to the current and future needs of the business. In particular I focussed on developing new and innovative working environments which supported collaborative team working and stimulated creativity. One of the key strategic changes I made was to outsource the UK Facilities Team. This team comprised 14 associates and because of its size could not provide the level of skills, knowledge and expertise locally in a cost effective manner. This was not initially a popular decision within the business but the changes resulted in an improved quality of support, delivered financial savings and was the best option for the business going forward.
Head Of European Property & Facilites
Facilities Manager
Over the eight years I worked for Tullett Prebon I was responsible for managing 9 UK offices, supporting the management team with execution and development of [property] strategy as well as working closely with the Group’s overseas offices. My role involved a combination of business management, operational management and project management. In particular:I was responsible for department financial management and controls, including planning, budgeting and monitoring both operational and capital expenditure budgets, providing regular monthly reporting to the finance department as well as periodic re-budgeting and cost saving forecastsI managed a team of 28 staff, 14 were directly employed and the remainder were contractors who were permanently based on site. I was responsible for all aspects of recruitment, retention, appraisals and training for this team.I completed a number of diverse and challenging projects including refurbishment, relocation, business integration, system development and department restructuring. These projects provided me with a considerable breadth and depth of understanding of project management, including effective planning, regular monitoring and control to ensure on-time delivery.
