Hitachi was founded over 100 years ago, with a mission statement that remains unchanged today: "Contribute to society through the development of superior, original technology and products".This is very apt for a world which is changing fast, but technology continues to change faster!There are two key aspects to my role. Firstly to stay abreast of technology within Hitachi, our partners (Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, Google etc) and the wider market. Secondly to work with our global consulting teams to find innovative ways to package these technologies into repeatable solutions to bring measurable benefits to our clients.

Cloud changes the game in terms of delivering technology solutions from fully developed business applications (SaaS), fully configured development platforms (PaaS) to scalable infrastructure (IaaS) all immediately available and scalable.Cloud changes the type and level of technical skills required within client organisations, presenting both challenges and opportunities to IT departments.XaaS involves classifying a business' activities into services - underpinned by, but not limited to, cloud delivered technology. This provides business leaders the opportunity to rethink their business model and how they procure these services.I am working across our key clients, our strategic alliances (Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, HDS) and the Hitachi Consulting Practices to collate, share and evolve best practice.All businesses - including our own - are impacted by cloud. Building a roadmap which encompasses longer term potential and accommodates current day legacy provides the confidence required to start the change journey.

Hitachi is one of only 9 Diamond Partners Oracle has globally, providing us with the access required to build our skills across the product set (Apps, Tech and BIPM) which underpin Oracle's solutions - in public cloud, private cloud (in our datacentres and in client data centres) or on premise. I have been a champion for strengthening the Global Oracle Practice, leveraging the experience gained from across our 70 countries and 2,400+ trained professionals, spanning over 50 Specializations and 14 Advance Specializations. This has meant evolving the structure of the practice to match the changes in our organisation and the market, coaching our existing team and bringing in fresh talent.Through a number of campaigns and pursuits we have won new clients, where we have delivered technology enabled change programs to help meet key business objectives. I have directly managed a number of the key accounts, including several global accounts.

Responsible for evolving Hitachi's project management standards - HFusion - and embedding them in across the UK team.This included personally managing the largest UK engagement, which was a multi-year project spanning multiple Practices.

Hence the name...Despite building a number of prototype applications with supporting business cases we were unable to secure funding and the founders returned to regular full time employmentWith hindsite, maybe we should have persevered.
