ITFL (www.itfl.org) uses professional music and film production to engage and empower the creative talent within communities around the world seriously challenged by poor health and poverty. We produce high quality animation and film material to spec in order help local health professionals improve the health of those who most need it. We are experienced in participatory development of materials, piloting and impact assessments.We also work with talented people in those communities who write culturally adept songs about HIV, malaria, TB and other health risks, and linked issues like stigmatisation and domestic violence. We record, mix, and master these songs, and we help artists and communities design, film and animate video material to accompany them. Then, we produce the music and video in attractive, professional packages for distribution and use by health professionals in their countries of origin and more widely.

CSR21.org provided news and comment on the commodities, NGO, and international finance sectors, along with relevant geopolitical (risk) news, mapping and markets news. It is a platform for positive discussion, on which everybody with a stake in land citizenship and the extractives industries can express their views.For years the CSR21.org core team has been sensitised to (and annoyed by) some of the ideological barriers between business and third sector types - in both directions. Over the last ten years: freelance research, writing and editing projects in the UK, Europe, Africa, the USA and Asia, in fields including medical writing, health policy and planning, local housing development, education, and small business management in developing countries. Projects include contracts for UN organizations, the World Trade Organisation, the British Medical Association, and the American Public Health Association. I have also had enjoyable and varied experience of public speaking, teaching and working with young people in related fields.

The WHO Mass Gatherings team is the WHO body that provides support to host countries in the planning and operation of mass gatherings, as well as the operational and response aspects of public health and health security during these gatherings. Assistance takes the form of direct field support, development and provision of information and tools, and maintenance of international networks. I was the liaison between the team and the WHO Collaborating Centre on Mass Gatherings and High Visibility/High Consequence events at Public Health England (formerly the UK Health Protection Agency/HPA). As part of this role I was a member of the HPA Olympic and Paralympic 2012 Programme Board, which oversaw the Agency’s preparation for the Games.

The Virtual Interdisciplinary Advisory Group (VIAG) on mass gatherings is maintained by WHO to generate and share evidence-based knowledge of mass gatherings. This network of experts can be deployed in response to the needs of hosts and organizing bodies.
