Marko D. Petrović is a Senior Research Associate (Srb. Viši naučni saradnik) at the Social Geography Department of the Geographical Institute Jovan Cvijić, Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SASA) in Belgrade (Serbia). He contributes as an Honorary Fellow to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, College of Letters & Science, DPLA in Madison (WI, USA). Dr. Petrović received his doctorate in geosciences from the University of Novi Sad, Department of Geography, Tourism and Hotel Management (Serbia). He is a human geographer, and his research is centered on rural development, rural economy, agritourism, tourism’s impact assessment, community-based economy planning, spatial aspects of tourism, and geotourism. He has authored numerous geography-, rural studies- and tourism-related research articles, five book chapters published by Springer, and one book (in Serbian) on the connection between tourism and geoheritage. His research has been published in the International Journal of Hospitality Management, the Annals of Tourism Research, the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research, the Sustainability, the Journal of Ethnic Foods, and the Journal of Place Management and Development, among others. Dr. Petrović serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the Geographical Institute Jovan Cvijic SASA since 2015 and served as Guest Editor of the JHTR (Sage Publications), the Frontiers in Psychology, the Land and the Sustainability (MDPI).
