My primary role in this position was to deliver marine biology curriculum to students throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Each lesson involved multiple hands-on components, including live marine animal demonstrations. Some lessons were hosted at our Presidio-based visitor center however most of my efforts were focused on the following programs:Oceans After School (OAS): An eight-week program for students in elementary school after-care. Each week, we discussed a new topic in marine biology by incorporating, live animals, animal artifacts, games, multimedia presentations, as well as arts & crafts. This program was offered exclusively to San Francisco Public School students, primarily from under-served communities.Oceans At Your School: Guest speaker presentations focused on one topic in marine biology (i.e. sharks, crabs, or seabirds). Offered to students throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
