I have always worked within the public, health and social care sector. I started community care as soon as i turned 18. This was working with both adults and children with mental health physical and learning disabilities, or support families to care for their relatives within their own home.I would provide support and and promote independence to individuals within their own home to help them maintain as full and active social life as possible. After community care, I applied for a night care assistant in a 62 bedded residential and nursing home. Whilst within this role I managed to progress to senior night care assistant and with this may role expanded to undertaking additional training and assessments to administer medications safely, including the safe storage of controlled drugs; in line with both national, local and company policy. It was also part of my role to risk asses and allocate staff members to work on certain units based on their skill sets and residents needs. Also, I would carry out regular 1:1 appraisals for night health care assistants, encouraging additional training, setting goals to work towards such as training or assistance in areas they feel they need to work more at.This was when I decided to study my bachelors in the social sciences. I wanted to help people but on a massive scale, and therefore decided to, and was lucky enough to be employed within my local NHS trust as a clinical support worker. I was able to massively expand my knowledge of acute care, health and other additional subjects such as cannulation and venepuncture training to name the least. During my time within the NHS I have had experience with clinical systems both locally and nationally; this also includes being involved in the process of setting up our covid-19 vaccination hub, within 2 weeks we had immobilised mass vaccination for the local population and inputting their vaccination status into national databases. I have both clinical and administrative skills and experience within the NHS. However, clerical started with ward clerking for the gastrointestinal ward at Bedford hospital. I then moved into the medicals record library where I would collect, distribute, collate and make up hospital records for outpatients, inpatients and new patients.
