Assistant Professor at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER) and Senior Member of IEEE.Earned my MEng (1999), MSc (2004), and PhD degrees (2013) in Computer Science with MEng and PhD theses specializing in Artificial Intelligence and MSc in Mobile Computing. Before fully joining academia back in 2008, worked in the ICT industry for a number of years as a Software Engineer, Project Manager, and Department Manager. Over the course of 25-year career, incrementally developed experience, technical and business skills gained thorough expertise in developing large core business, ERP, and BI ICT projects in Microsoft and Java-based technologies. Participated in a number of EU-funded, and national scientific projects as a project leader or researcher. Also engaged in a number of development and national commercial projects in partnership with industry, NGOs and government in the roles of a project leader or professional expert.Currently, President of the Scientific Council at the Croatian Mine Action Center – Testing Center for Development and Training (HCR CTRO). and serving as Chair of the Technology Management chapter (TEMS) in the IEEE Croatia Section. Previously, Vice-Dean for Science, International Cooperation, and New Study Programmes at the Zagreb University of Applied Sciences (TVZ), preparing the Polytechnic for re-accreditation, leading the re-accreditation for the HRN EN ISO 9001 certificate, head of the part-time undergraduate study programme in computing, and founded and led the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at TVZ until 6/2020.Particularly proud to have supervised over 80 B.Sc. and M.Eng. dissertations in informatics, computer science, and artificial intelligence. Published more than 95 peer-reviewed science papers. Serving as editor, editorial board member, and reviewer for many respected journals and international conferences. Additionally, conducted reviews of study programs and project proposals for international scientific foundations.Member of IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society, IEEE Technology and Engineering Management Society, and IEEE Big Data Community. Member of the Croatian Astronomical Society. Delivered many invited lectures and actively involved in promoting STEM and research in computer science, AI, and other breakthrough technologies. Additionally, served as a member of expert panels and provided insights during interviews for various media outlets.
