Appointed by the Governor to manage the daily operations, and serves as the Secretary’s Chief of Staff, overseeing 12 departments, 5 offices, over 34,000 employees, and a budget of $260 billion. Advises the Secretary and the Governor on policy, budget, and programmatic issues affecting all areas of health and human services. Delivers on the Governor’s and the Secretary’s key priorities and objectives.

Appointed by the Governor to manage a team of Assistant Secretaries to develop and implement complex programs and services that address the whole needs of all Californians. Served as the Secretary’s budget advisor on all matters related to health and human services.

Appointed by the Governor to serve as the interim leader of a department responsible for California’s hospital construction and workforce development that includes 450 staff and a $200 million annual budget. Implement the Department’s strategic goals and built internal and external partnerships to improve access to health care services in underserved areas.

Managed strategic partnerships and collaborated with stakeholders to develop and execute new ventures to expand the reach and impact of the Association’s quality improvement efforts and services.

Managed and implemented the federal advocacy agenda on delivery and payment system reform, health information technology, and quality improvement.

Managed the development and implementation of the Assistant Secretary’s priorities and initiatives, while overseeing the day-to-day operations and functions of the office. Provided strategic advice and counsel to the Assistant Secretary, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary, and the Senior Leadership Team.

Managed the complex schedules of the Assistant Secretary and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary while coordinating meetings and events with the Department’s Senior Leadership, Members of Congress, officials within the Executive Office of the President, and other high-ranking government officials.
