I currently have 6+ years (including a Master's) of experience in mechatronics roles involving biomedical and biotech applications, consumer electronics, and many other fields. I'm primarily a generalist that excels in system level thinking but can also dive into specific applications involving electronics architecture and design, as well as firmware and software implementation and electro-mechanical integration.I'm currently working as a Product Development Engineer at Inertia where I both lead and contribute to projects. Every day at my role involves problem solving and finding solutions to real world applications. Previously, I was the lead product developer for a startup building the next generation of diagnostic tools for detecting ear disorders. What started as a contract role turned into multiple years of overseeing and executing the development of a proof of concept medical device.Aside from an master's in biomedical engineering and a bachelor's in mechatronic systems engineering, my accomplishments include two publications, submission of a patent, and an award for "Best Design" at the Hamlyn Surgical Robotics Competition in 2017. I can speak three languages and I'm actively learning a fourth.

Product Development EngineerInertia Product Development Jan 2022 - PresentToronto, Ontario, Ca• Led multiple projects and teams (internal and external) using an agile framework: sprint planning, BOM management, budget and hour tracking, technical documentation• Client management involving meetings, presentations, contractual disputes, change requests, etc• Implemented design history files and other technical documentation under ISO 9001 & 13485• PCB and harness design, firmware and software implementation, 3D printing, prototyping, sourcing and evaluating sensors and actuators for complex electromechanical systems, integration and testing, • Project planning for potential and existing clients: scoping, timeline and budget evaluation, risk assessments, resource planning -
Medical Device EngineerUniversity Of Toronto Sep 2019 - Jan 2022Toronto, Ontario, Ca• Worked with a team of clinicians to design an otoscopic device that can diagnose children’s ear disorders • Designed mechanical enclosures and ear specula that required fluidic and acoustic pathways, fibre optic light delivery, stereoscopic cameras, and temperature sensors• Designed, assembled, and programmed several rigid and flex circuit boards, selected and integrated microcontrollers, SOMs, sensors, pumps/valves, displays, cameras• Wrote firmware, algorithms, and application code for sensor collection, filtering, and inter-board communication. Wrote accompanying software for wireless transmission, data processing, and generating a GUI -
Research StudentCenter For Image Guided Innovation And Therapeutic Intervention Jul 2017 - Sep 2019Audio Device for Force Feedback Substitution:• Developed an audio feedback device that wirelessly communicates with a force sensor and plays a sound corresponding to the amount of force applied on a robotic instrument. I also refined and developed a force sensor interface in both Simulink and Visual Studio (vb.NET) to read, filter, and transmit data to the audio device through Bluetooth. Additionally, I wrote a python script that receives/converts numeric data to a grayscale colour that is overlaid on a surgical screen. Finally, I will be presenting a conference paper at EMBC that will be published to IEEE Xplore/ PubMed.Endo-Otoscopic Multitool:• Designed and developed the software and electrical portions an electro-mechanical device that contains an endoscope, forceps, and a suction/irrigation channel within a 4mm lumen. The tool allows flow, 3-DOF navigation, and dissection. We presented the project to the 2018 Hamlyn Symposium on Medical Robotics competition at Imperial College and won best design (one of three prizes). We also began a collaboration with Russel Taylor's group at Johns Hopkins University and with startup company Galen Robotics. Finally, we submitted a patent to the Canadian Patents Database, and a provisional to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Research AssistantLondon Health Sciences Centre (Lhsc) May 2016 - Jun 2017London, Ontario, CaNitinol Tube Heater:• Developed an electrical shape-setting system for Nitinol (Nickel-Titanium) used in concentric tube robots. I created an Arduino controlled, MOSFET driven system with variable current control and temperature monitoring, I also machined custom connectors using EDM and CNC milling. Overall I was successful in reducing heat treatment time and improving curvature accuracy over conventional methods.Electrical system for CTR • Designed, printed, and assembled a PCB for the electrical system of a concentric tube robot (CTR). This involved creating EAGLE libraries for motor drivers, sensors, and connectors, as well as assorting six drivers onto one two-layer board to reduce cost and maintain size constraints whileminimizing EMI noise and optimizing heat dissipation. -
Technical Lab AssistantFaculty Of Mechanical And Materials Engineering Jan 2016 - Apr 2016Assisted in the development, testing, and preparation of several mechatronic labs, including light and pressure sensors and PLCs, in order to optimize functionality and reproducibility

Research AssistantBrain And Mind Institute: Neuroscience And Music Sep 2015 - Apr 2016Modified and executed a Python script to convert EEG datasets to MATLAB readable files inpreparation for a noise cancellation toolbox that utilizes multichannel data analysis to filter theresults. Also used SSH network protocol Bash commands to access and navigate various SHARCNET clusters. I locally executed several examples (involving computational python libraries and Google Protocol Buffers) of a software package that performs Bayesian optimization of machine learning algorithms, in preparation for adapting the process within SHARCNET.
