I am a licenced veterinarian with a Masters degree in Animal Science. Currently, I am a PhD student in Animal Science at the Department of Animal Nutrition and Management of SLU. My project is part of SustAinimal and the title is "Lifetime net greenhouse gas emissions and contributing to the food system from dairy cows fed best practice diets" My past work experiences include working as a volunteer at the Department of Animal Husbandry of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, participating in an infectious disease control programme in Lesbos (Greece) during an outbreak of ovine smallpox. Alongside my Master's education, I worked as a research assistant and study mentor. My master thesis title is "Silage extrusion and its effects on intake, behaviour and productivity of dairy cows". In 2021, I completed the Swedish Language course "Svenska som främmande språk Nivå 1-8" offered from Lund University, I acquired my veterinary legitimation in Sweden and I worked part-time as a distriktsveterinär in Växjö (Sweden). I am interested in animal nutrition and animal health and I have a strong love for research. I want to contribute to the development of sustainable, resilient and safe animal production. My hobbies include reading, studying, travelling and working out.

VeterinarianGreek Army, Veterinarian Nov 2017 - Feb 2018Lésvos, Northern Aegean, GreeceDuring the compulsory military service, I was part of a team of veterinarian participating in an infectious disease control program (outbreak of Capripoxvirus) on the island of Lesbos. We assisted the local veterinary agency to identify and stamp out infected animals, implement quarantine measures, inform the farmers about the disease and implement preventive measures. My responsibilities included additional administrative work (organizing farm visit schedule) and data handling (data updating, geographical locations and decision making on quarantined areas).It was a complex task that required the coordination of many individuals since the island has a developed agricultural sector (435.000 small ruminants, 6.000 cattle, 4 operational slaughterhouses and 43 dairy facilities.Through this experience, I acquired skills such as:• Clinical examination, sampling and assessment of infection risk.• Communication with all individuals involved in the project (veterinarians, farmers, personnel etc.).• Implementation of infectious disease measures (Quarantine, Disinfection and Stamping out).• Data collection, organization, interpretation and the visual representation of the progress.• Experience in administrative work.
