The framework specifies a range of security maturity levels that must be met and will be used by the DoD as a qualification criterion for RFPs and vendor selection. It is estimated that contractors will take 12-18 months to become CMMC Assessment ready. Defense RFPs are expected to include CMMC requirements beginning in 2025.
