While working in venture, I came to the realization that legacy software is eating the world and it's going to require software engineers to solve the issue that software engineers created. At Formulated Automation we helped companies solve their legacy software issues with a mix of automation and machine learning (mostly regular expressions).

Snip.it was acquired in early 2013 by Yahoo.- Launched Tumblr's integration with Yahoo Finance and Yahoo's international partner sites- Got my hands dirty combining Node.js with hundreds of millions of users.- Learned how 12,000 people get things done.

What started with 2 people and a simple Rails app, soon became 10 people and an innovative front-end stack based on Node.js and Backbone. I worked on the mobile team building the Twitter experience for every level of our mobile userbase (SMS, feature phone, smart phone). I got to be part of the team that drove the vast majority of growth at Twitter, and launched two new versions of the mobile web siteHighlights:- Moved to the original Twitter mobile to an entirely new service, twice.- Did terrible things to the API- Circumvented internal processes when needed- ssh'd into production- Abused hadoop- Tried to stop mobile spam (Spoiler, it didn't work)

I jumped at the opportunity to work at a place so close to Hancook Tacos. While there, I also worked on location at the NY Times, which allowed me to eat at The Kati Roll Company almost daily. The Kati Roll Company has only TWO locations in the world and is widely regarded as one of the best kati roll shops outside of India. I can't stress this enough, if you're ever in London or New York, do yourself a favor and grab lunch at The Kati Roll Company.Bonus: Got to work with the amazing team at Highgroove on some very cool Ruby projects. Highgroove has an amazing company culture, focusing on a Coffee Driven Development strategy utilizing a La Marzocco double boiler three-head espresso machine. This, combined with some of the best and brightest of the Ruby community, made for an incredible career experience.Highlights:- Got to work with several news organizations to process public and private data- Built the NYTimes 2010 Winter Olympics app on location- Worked with numerous early and late stage clients to improve code base quality and testing practices- Built the most popular AWS Mechanical Turk Ruby library, and open sourced it.- Still can't make a decent latte

I came into Neomedia to completely rebuild and re-architect their legacy codebase. With 25 million mobile devices across 193 countries running their barcode scanning software, it was an amazing challenge and opportunity rethink mobile development.Highlights:- Worked directly with an international team to support a wide variety of devices and carriers- Implemented pair programming for most new feature work- Keep test coverage at 95%+- Architected a system that will be in use for years to come
