About Mark Pieter

I’m a business broker, experienced technology professional, and third generation small business owner. After selling several of my own companies, today my team and I help owners at all stages of their careers exit to their next act.My business-brain is fascinated by entrepreneurship; I am consistently impressed with the variety and creativity of companies that survive and thrive in the modern economy! I've sold a wide range of businesses (and commercial real estate) from manufacturing, distribution, service, technology and construction, to higher education, hospitality and restaurants. My role as a business broker is to guide buyers and sellers through the purchase process, coach them on their buy/sell decisions, and help them overcome the inevitable roadblocks in every transaction. Essentially, I herd the deal cats until the deal closes. My technology-brain loves systems, and I'm at my best creating environments where my team can thrive. I always have one eye tracking the problems they face, and the other architecting solutions, which I build into our Salesforce and Microsoft ecosystems. This approach enables BottomLine's talented business brokers to reach peak performance and gives them freedom to focus on the core parts of their deals still best done by humans: • Bringing quality businesses to market• Matching qualified buyers to those businesses• Shepherding those deals to conclusionWhen I'm not involved in deals or engrossed in tech, I'm traveling (soon again I hope!), enjoying nature (my favorite spots are the top of Mt. Whitney and the deserts of Joshua Tree), living vicariously through my eldest daughter at Duke Engineering, cheering on my youngest at her high school swim meets, or debating with my wife over whose turn it is to clean up after the dog (spoiler alert: it's hers). If you're looking to buy or sell a business, a business broker in search of better opportunities at a new brokerage, or simply interested in chatting Salesforce, let's connect!
