I originally studied Electrical & Computer Engineering at Rutgers School of Engineering and then went on to earn an MBA in Supply Chain Management from Rutgers Business School. I worked part-time during this period as a Best Buy Home Theater Sales Associate. My interest in supply chain management began after a conversation with Don Klock, a supply chain professor at RBS, and solidified in the introductory operations course during my first term of the MBA program. I was then drawn towards logistics working on a project for a major software firm creating a logistical plan to enter a new emerging market, and then went on to a logistics internship position with International Specialty Products (now part of Ashland Inc.) The logistics internship exposed me to some of the wonderful intricacies of the logistics world and the challenges it presents, which got me excited to further pursue a career in this area. One of the projects from this internship, an in-depth freight payment audit, gave me the chance to produce real results as I helped the company recover over $40K of over-payments, mostly within the LTL mode of transportation.I now have the pleasure to work at top 3PL provider LMS Logistics (now Transplace Inc.) since July 2012. I began as a Rail Coordinator overseeing the movement of 2000+ rail cars for BASF chemical company. I also managed BASF's rail GPS project, identifying non-working or missing units and arranging installations/replacements. After two fantastic years in rail, I now work as an Air Export Planner creating export shipments in SAP for international air orders and generating booking requests to various freight forwarders to secure cargo space on planes. I hope to continue learning the finer points of logistics across more transportation modes before eventually moving on to a senior logistics position handling high-level strategic problems in a company's supply chain.
