Actor and Writer. As a writer I have particular interest in involving audiences in performance - not breaking the fourth wall (I've argued while devising projects) I'm moving it back a few yards, just enough to bring the audience into the room. That's certainly true of my two current writing projects, Dick Turpin and the Thief Taker of Blackheath (in which the audience played trainee highwaymen) and Beyond the Grave (in which the audience played attendees of a Hallowe'en party) and the current co-written project with Errol Clayton, The Hound of the Baskervilles (in which the audience will be playing members of an Edwardian book lovers club). My acting work is partly, but not exclusively, to varying degrees depending on in-house style and genre, exploiting these same interests in immersion, interactivity, audience participation, and improvisation tailored to audience responses; but I do act in more traditional styles as well, and my earliest acting experiences were in Shakespeare and that has continued to be a passion.
