From 2008 until 2016 Omniscale provided mostly freelance services for other companies. In 2008 I started out as a Freelance (web)software developer. Mostly as a back-end developer, but gradually became a front-end developer as well. Gaining knowledge in markup, styling and front-end scripting made it possible to jump into most projects with ease. I gradually became what is currently known as a fulll-stack developer.Growing and including more partners in the company in 2012 and 2014 made it possible for us to be included in larger projects and we soon became a full service company with mostly our own clients. To us the move to our office in The Hague in 2016 marked the moment we became a full-service company.

During this time I was asked to help with various projects for FabriqueA small list of the companies and projects:- Heineken ("Match Night Manager", "Trophy Tour", "Ready for Roma")- Etos ("Goudkoorts", "Moederdagwensen")- Nationale-Nederlanden

Omniscale was responsible for everything technical in regards to the websites that are being maintained by TIG Sports. The tasks includes basic sysop tasks (such as maintaining the VPS and colocated machines) as well as providing support for legacy websites. Further technical consult was provided wherever this was needed. This included analysing current server setup, advising on best course of action in migration situation and communication with partners or clients.Aside from the technical consultancy and server maintenance various web application/development projects where completed for TIG Sports, including; KLM Open (2011 - 2014), Deloitte Ladies Open (2011 - 2014), Golfweekly.nl (2011-2014), EK Beachvolleybal (2011), Transavia Grand Slam Game (2013)

Joining the "Goesting" collective, which is small group of freelancers wherein each of the members is specialist in their respective field (Webdesign, Animator, Frontend, Backend, Flash), made it possible to take on larger projects and have, as a collective, more control on what is being made.Due to dutch rules and regulations, it was decided that as of August 2013, the "Goesting" collective as such could not exist and the name and company where disbanded.

InsideGamer v4 was a total revamp project for the InsideGamer website which was very outdated (last major changes in 2006) and required some serious refactoring. It was decided to have a fresh start and rebuild it totally. This made it possible to go one step further and choose a different programming language (Django/Python) and other backend applications like Redis, SolR, HayStack and MongoDB. In this project I was mainly involved in Frontend development (Mostly Javascript/jQuery/Spine)) and frontend related Django implementation (searching, filtering).

Working on streamlining the development process and document guidelines

In addition to the task of project manager and occasional development tasks, the main focus was getting the most out of the people and the platform. Finding out where problems are and where improvement can be made (in people as well as in the platform itself). To streamline this process we started laying out guidelines and preferred methodologies for working in the TBlox environment. But importantly at the same time maintain the possibilities for developers to improve the platform and working methods.

Core tasks included coordinating the development workload for the company. Shifting to project-based development instead of ad-hoc based working (or "firefighting mode"). Making sure everyone has what they need and introducing ways to improve the current codebase and TBlox platform as a whole by listening to what developers would like to see and how they would improve the platform.

The core tasks performed included; decision making on soft- and hardware development, design decisions and game-mechanics development. My responsibilities included; the functioning of the website (PHP platform), webservers (loadbalanced servers), databases (multi-master/slave mysql), gaming platform (Java based game-servers), optimising the platform and development & improvement of the website.

I mainly worked on improving the Spelpunt gaming platform. I continued to improve my PHP programming skills over the years.

As a Junior Programmer I made PHP applications which were related to the gaming platform (www.spelpunt.nl). For example backend scripts to aid the Spelpunt Helpdesk (account retrieval).

Next to my daily duties at GamePoint I wanted to do something different to the Gaming industry. So in my evening hours I worked for TBlox which at the time was busy developing online tools for project management- and purchase/sales- tools.
