My role was that of a hands-on digital development lead creating their new website portal aimed at ASX listed companies. The portal consists of a re-skin-able responsive website combined with iPhone and Android applications. I was responsible for all development phases including solution architecture, development execution and production deployment.

Having successfully delivered two large scale projects for Tempus I was asked to drive the JRules Java development for the Worksafe Victoria Premium Calculation. JRules was being used as the heart of this project to revitalise the way in which the premium for all worksafe employers was being calculated.My role was that of a hands-on technical lead responsible for a team of 5 developers. The project had been through a lot of turmoil and as a result my primary goal was to bring the JRules development back on track. Using various techniques I brought a development focus to the team and was able to deliver the JRules development slightly ahead of schedule.

The Tempus project was a shared initiative between Worksafe Victoria and the TAC. This very large and ambitious project utilises JRules to enforce and monitor the payment rules for medical invoices. The rules are designed to not only minimise fraud but to also ensure that valid payments are processed much faster.My role was that of hands on technical lead responsible for a small team of 5 to 8 developers along with the BRMS (Business Rules Management System) development.

Apollo Workers Compensation - Online INI Project. As a result of the success in the previous Workers Compensation projects at CGU, I was asked to return and lead the front end development of another initiative. The goal of this new project was to rationalise the various workers compensation systems and portals in to a single system.My role was that of hands on technical lead with primary responsiblilty for the front-end web development.

NAB Connect is an online banking solution specifically designed for businesses. It is a huge system that processes millions of dollars’ worth of transactions every day. This project aimed to provide a significant list of enhancements to the system.My role was that of a Senior JEE developer. Having had solid and extensive experience in all of the technologies involved I was ideal to hit the ground running.

CGU manages their Workers Compensation Insurance utilising a COBOL based mainframe. The project’s goal was to extend the functionality of the mainframe to insurance brokers over the internet. The role was that of an integration specialist. I coordinated and orchestrated the design of the web services used to expose the COBOL business logic. I documented this design using UML artefacts, implemented the design in Message Broker and pioneered a JUnit based testing harness for continuous integration.

This project was split in to two separate engagements. The first was a short 5 week consulting engagement in which I provided expertise on the usage of JRules within the banks architecture by attending workshops and creating a Proof of Concept.The second was a 10-11 month project in which I constructed a fee calculation engine using JRules. The engine could calculate all of the various different fees for a large variety of banking products including Government and Bank fees. I incorporated Excel spreadsheets in to the test suites which allowed the business analysts to provide comprehensive test scenarios that were then pragmatically processed to ensure development quality.
