Mark Roche is an experienced technology investor and business leader. He is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of West U Capital, an intellectual property capital investment firm. West U Capital provides capital to operating companies and other intellectual property owners as a catalyst for growth or momentum building monetization event or both. He has again been named to the IAM Strategy 300: The World's Leading Strategists. Mark has significant experience in executing technology-based investments. He has proven skills and demonstrated leadership in private equity fundraising and investments, intellectual property, strategy, business development, mergers and acquisitions, finance, and manufacturing.Before West U Capital, Mark co-founded and was Managing Director of Techquity Capital Management, a pioneering intellectual property investment firm devoted to unlocking value from innovation. Mark had previously co-founded AT&T (formerly SBC) Knowledge Ventures, creating a recognized leader in IP commercialization. After establishing its operations, he led the successful monetization of the corporation’s global patent and trademark portfolios. In his additional role as Chairman of AT&T’s patent committee, Mark helped to shape the corporation’s IP portfolio. In 2005, the National Taskforce for Knowledge and IP Management recognized SBC Knowledge Ventures as Innovator of the Year.In addition, Mark was instrumental in the launch of the newly constituted Prodigy Communications as head of finance, ultimately selling the business to SBC Communications. In addition, he led global strategy and mergers and acquisitions for Emerson’s process automation solutions business. He also held key roles at Emerson in corporate strategy as well as global sales and marketing. Mark began his career in manufacturing engineering and technology development at General Motors.Mark earned a BS in mechanical engineering and materials science from Duke University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
