Building on an early career in fast-moving retail operational management, I first became passionate about unlocking the potential in people and all things learning and development in the late 80's. I firmly believe that to be effective and sustainable, any learning must be creative and focused, fun and engaging... but above all... practical! Management theories and models may provide insights, however the vital tipping point is "how can I use this?" or "how does this solve that problem?". Without these answers, little of any real value will be taken away from a training session.In 2001, I formed Creativedge Training, to amplify my belief to make learning more accessible, keep things simple (less is more) and offer employees flexibility and choice in how they learn. Take the best, leave the rest! The success of our extensive (180 sessions) 90 Minute Training Toolkit was powerful evidence that I was not alone in this! After 23 successful years, Creativedge had achieved its goals. We were always ahead of the game - as bite-sized training pioneers and as early adopters of virtual delivery - when very few training companies saw any potential in it. Over the years, many have tried to copy us, however very few could ever match us.Some of my favourite personal beliefs are:• Enthusiasm is contagious - so is a lack of it - choose to work with like-minded people.• Be professional yes, but stop taking yourself so seriously.• Doing the right things (effective) will always beat doing things right (efficient).• Get out of the way and let your people perform.• As a leader, work on your business - not in it.• You can talk a good game all day - but others will judge you by what you DO.• To generate wealth then you need to be a smart investor, spot opportunities and brave enough to take some risks - hard work alone is not enough.
