Worked on Code for America's Safety and Justice team to build applications that help improve the lives of those navigating the US justice system.Projects:• Clear My Record: This service helps individuals apply across California to clear certain old convictions from their criminal records, removing a key barrier to rebuilding their lives with access to employment, housing, and education.• ClientComm: A webapp that brings parole and supervision officers closer to their clients through easy-to-use text messaging, creating better outcomes for clients while reducing recidivism and inefficiency.

Worked on a small three-person team helping governments and public interest organizations attract and retain the talent needed to build great products and services that serve our communities.This was a hybrid role, with both technical (web development, data analysis) and strategic (product management, project management, event coordination, marketing) components.As the team's sole technical contributor, I built and maintained a job board of public interest technology roles, including user accounts, automated job notification and reminder emails, and a rich admin interface. We collected job application data and looked for patterns to give insight into the job searching habits of those seeking opportunities in the world of public interest technology. Key components of the job board tech stack included Rails, React, and Postgres. Deployment was on Heroku. Site analytics were collected with Segment.io, Mixpanel, Google Analytics, and in some custom database tables.My non-technical contributions to the team included MCing and helping to coordinate several events showcasing hiring organizations for the tech communities in San Francisco and New York City.
