Starting at St Bees on Cumbria's west coast, the trail crosses the Lake District with its spectacular mountain scenery before crossing the Pennines and winding its way on through the beautiful Yorkshire Dales to Richmond then up on to the rugged and tranquil North Yorkshire Moors. The trail comes to an end after 192 miles at the lovely old fishing village of Robin Hood's Bay on Yorkshire's east coast.We have devised various routes for cyclists to enjoy the same beautiful countryside in a Coast to Coast Crossing from St Bees to Robin Hood's Bay. Options exist for either a challenging mountain bike crossing with some particularly demanding stages in the Lake District, or a more gentle tarmac crossing for road bikers - taking advantage of the minor road network.
