Facilities Manager
CurrentReporting directly to the General Manager, my remit since commencing in this role is to build a robust operating environment that meets key stakeholder expectations, supports staff to grow in their careers, and creates an environment for visitors to the three leisure centres. This was a complete overhaul of operations and whilst initially each day brought new challenges, I have now created an environment that works seamlessly and whilst there is always something to deal with, our systems and processes now turn challenges into business as usual.Successful operation management starts with understanding your staffing base, their roles and organisational culture. Managing a dynamic team of 25+ full-time, part-time, casual and trainee staff across the three locations I have developed a team that understands the mission of our operations, actively participates in safety procedures and are an integral part of the customer service standards that I have implemented. I am hands on in my leadership practices and manage all human resource aspects including hiring, rostering and performance management. Nationwide facility scoring feedback has identified a 20% increase in overall performance since my arrival, noting that expectations are clear, for staff and for the centres as I implemented talent and succession planning, manager and individual development planning. My operational strength is my ability to strip back procedures and processes to test their robustness and commercial value. I established procedures, standards and performance criteria to oversee and manage the responsibilities of the facilities. Whilst I don’t believe in changing what is working, I do look for ways to strengthen and streamline processes, always ensuring that compliance and safety requirements take precedence. With strengths in stakeholder engagement I have built and enhanced the relationship with the local council as key stakeholder for the centres.
