I have worked in the geoenvironmental field since May 2004 for a number of engineering consultancies. I commenced my working career as a Project Engineer at Coffey Geotechnics (formerly EDGE Consultants UK Ltd) in Manchester, UK where I undertook the design, organisation, supervision and reporting of ground investigations for a low-level nuclear waste disposal facility, new developments, and contaminated land investigations. I was also involved in groundwater risk assessments and modelling, environmental monitoring, liaison with regulatory bodies, preparation of specifications, budget estimates and proposals.In August 2011 I commenced work in Durban, South Africa for Jeffares and Green (Pty) Ltd (now JG Afrika) as a Hydrogeologist, later becoming a Senior Hydrogeologist. My main focus was on groundwater resource projects for government departments (e.g. DWA, DAEA), mining companies, schools, communities and developers. These projects typically included geophysical surveying, borehole siting, drilling and yield testing supervision and analysis of water quality and sustainable supply. I was also involved in environmental investigations for major infrastructure developments such as the Durban Dig-Out Port.In January 2015 I started employment with Kantey and Templer (Pty) Ltd as a Senior Environmental Consultant and now as an Executive Associate. My role involves the management of a team of geoscientists providing environmental consultancy services. Projects include environmental investigations at major infrastructure hubs (e.g. Cape Town Harbour and Airport), design and installation of groundwater monitoring networks and contamination assessments and environmental monitoring of soil, groundwater and air. I have been a Chartered Geologist (CGeol) since 2012 and a Fellow of the Geological Society of London. In addition, I am a Professional Natural Scientist (Pr.Sci.Nat) with SACNASP.
