- Engineering consultancy including development work and customer interaction (requirements capture, demonstration, feedback).- The company specializes in bespoke RF digital signal processing and security products, but has worked in a large variety of disciplines as needed by the customers.- Personally specialising in FPGA development (primarily using VHDL for Xilinx FPGAs), but also doing software and hardware as required.- Short projects with rapid turnaround involving whole system design and development.- Upgrades and improvements to existing products, working with large codebases.- Mentoring of newer employees, particularly with regard to teaching FPGA development.- Also had other responsibilities including IT administration and recruitment.

Aiding in the development of a magnetometer based on nitrogen vacancies in diamond. Used FPGAs to create a low cost and scalable system controller and data collector for the system. Programmed using Verilog in Xilinx Vivado.

Research on mechanical property investigation using atomic force microscopy (AFM) and ultrasound. Includes technique development of ultrasonic force microscopy (UFM), high resolution non destructive testing (NDT) using AFM based pickup, and measuring mechanical properties of thin films (e.g. graphene) using AFM nanoindentation.Particular interest was taken in automation of data capture and analysis, allowing larger data sets to be easily acquired. This included programming controls for external devices, such as signal generators, oscilloscopes, and a motorized stage with separately acquired position sensors. Programming was primarily done in Igor Pro, with additional work done in C, Arduino, and LabVIEW, with use of VISA, I2C and serial communication.I have presented my work at multiple conferences, including two talks (UK SPM 2013, Leeds, UK; and MMC 2014, Manchester UK) and multiple posters (MMC 2014 and 2015, Manchester, UK; Euro AFM 2014, Göttingen, Germany; and ICU 2015, Metz, France).I also had a 3 month work placement with Asylum Research, an Oxford Instruments company, in 2015.

3 month work placement as part of a University of Warwick/Midlands Physics Alliance work experience program. Working with Asylum Research while based primarily out of the University of Warwick.Work involved the programming of analysis methods for fast force mapping and electrical measurements for Asylum Research atomic force microscopes, using Igor Pro.

Early work on implementing ultrasonic force microscopy on the AFM at the university. This resulted in being offered a PhD position to continue and expand the work.
