Employed originally as a millwright i was invited to join Operations as a Supervisor. i was responsible for overseeing Heat treatment and ERW Weld line. When required i also looked after both Threading lines.• Track, maintain and improve key production KPIs (utilization, downtime, efficiency, rejects). Also responsible for reporting on these metrics on a daily basis.• Manage 1-2 crews working a 12-hour shift pattern in a union environment. Active supervisory presence on the floor to monitor and maintain a safe working environment. Ensure employees are working safely and wearing appropriate PPE as per JSA's.• Supervise the maintenance department after-hours. Provide technical advice and machine specific guidance when in a breakdown situation. • Assist in Training and Development – track employee certification, assessing training documentation to ensure relevancy, coaching, discipline, conduct annual employee reviews. • Inventory management – create work requests to ensure consumables and tools are available in a timely fashion. • Perform daily “Kronos” timekeeping.
