Undertook the role of Senior Engineer and Project Manager for Roughan & O’Donovan Consulting Engineers specialising in the design and project management of small to medium sized public infrastructure schemes. Responsibilities included providing all services required to deliver capital works schemes from the concept stage through preliminary design, planning, detailed design, tendering, construction to the handover stage.

Undertook the role of Surveyor and Design Engineer for MVM Rail, Ballast Needham International Joint Venture on the Design and Build Contract for the development of the Light Rail Transit System (LUAS) through Dublin City Centre, Ireland. Responsibilities included performing the role of Senior Survey and Design Engineer as well as acting as Client liaison for urban design issues.

Undertook the role of Surveyor for German Company Allsat Network & Services, based in the Middle East, on the Design and Build Contract for the demarcation of the international borderline between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Yemen. Responsibilities included performing the role of Survey Group Manager and acting as Contractor site representative to Saudi and Yemeni government officials on borderline definition issues.

Founded a successful private surveying company, GPS Surveying Solutions Ltd., offering GPS equipment and consultation to surveying and engineering consultants and civil construction companies throughout New Zealand. Services included surveying services, the supply of engineering quality GPS equipment to the industry and training in the theory and use of GPS for engineers and surveyors. GPS Surveying Solutions Ltd. also provided a beta testing environment for some equipment and software development with Trimble Navigation Ltd.

Undertook the role of Surveyor for a State Owned Enterprise called City Consultants, under the remit of Dunedin City Council, with responsibilities including cadastral, geodetic and engineering surveying, engineering and subdivision design, resource consent (planning) works and geographic information systems services.
