Mark Smith B.Comm. LLB., is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Spoke Resources Ltd. based in Calgary. With over 30 years of experience in managing oil and gas ventures and in providing corporate, commercial and financial advisory services to Canadian and international exploration and production companies, he offers a unique blend of leadership, vision and industry subject matter expertise.As a management executive, he has held executive positions with numerous resource companies, including Hyrcanian Resources, Scimitar Hydrocarbons and Infiniti Resources since 1997 which primarily focused on development, exploration and production in Canada and the EMEA. Amongst his other significant contributions as a leader, Mark made the greatest impact on these companies through his ability to develop effective strategies to achieve profitability and to generate shareholder value - from the formation through to the funding and development of an exploration program to acquisition and merger – with minimal resources.Mark was a partner with Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP and Burnet, Duckworth & Palmer LLP prior to establishing his own practice. Due to his experience working with companies in the local and international energy and resource sector, he was regularly called upon to serve as lead counsel in share and asset acquisitions and divestitures, especially those which involve cross-border transactions. In his own practice, he currently works with oil and gas exploration and production companies, power companies, lenders and oilfield service and manufacturers to negotiate and document various aspects of strategic alliance partnerships, oil and gas royalty trusts, commercial transactions, commodity trading arrangements as well as regulatory matters.Mark has served and continues to serve on a number of boards and subcommittees of both public and private companies.
