  I am a shareholder in the Portland office of Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, P.C. and a former chair of my law firm's Land Department and its Real Estate & Land Use practice group.I joined Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt in 1985 and became a partner in 1992. I began my practice focusing on business and securities transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, private placements and public offerings. Although I continue to serve as corporate counsel to a number of businesses in our community, my practice has evolved over the years to include a broad representation of commercial real estate and timber investment management organizations. As a result, I have acquired substantial and unique experience in large, complex transactions in commercial real estate, domestic timberland acquisitions and dispositions, conservation sales and easements, and loan transactions secured by timberlands. U.S. News – Best Lawyers in America magazine recently honored me by naming me Best Lawyers' 2014-15 Portland, Oregon Timber Law "Lawyer of the Year." Only a single lawyer in each specialty in each community receives this distinction. Prior to entering law school, I traveled on business throughout Europe and the Middle East for Kohler Company. During that time, I learned to read and speak Arabic at the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird).
