Chief Executive Officer
CurrentEndure Biotherapeutics (“Endure Bio” ™) in San Diego, California, was founded by Professor Amir Zarrinpar MD, PhD, at the Zarrinpar Laboratory, UCSD. The company is developing engineered engraftable live biotherapeutics for gastrointestinal diseases by genetically engineering man’s native bacteria to express therapeutic compounds (such as anti-inflammatory cytokines). Unlike other GI focused microbiome companies, our biotherapeutics will be targeted to remain resident, delivering potentially curative solutions that endure the host environment. The company has a two-fold focus for our development programs whereby orphan disease applications would be retained by the company, such as phenylketonuria (PKU) and galactosemia, but large broad indications such as colon cancer and Type 2 diabetes would be partnered with Big Pharma/Big Biopharma companies for development and commercialization. The company’s initial Intellectual Property is based on PCT/US2018/027998: Engineered commensal bacteria and methods of use. The company has an exclusive license to this IP from UCSD and intends expand this portfolio by filing subsequent composition-of-matter IP on each new therapeutic microbe developed. The company is led by Mark S. Wilson, Engr, MBA, Founder and founding CEO of MatriSys Bioscience, a leading skin microbiome therapeutics company. Mr. Wilson has 30 years of biopharmaceutical development experience including Hybritech, Pfizer Global R&D, and Halozyme Therapeutics where he brought in the $612million deal with Hoffman La Roche, turning the company in the $5billion valuation today.
