From a Deloitte Consulting sponsored health insurance exchange white paper to an orphan drug funding model with Booz Allen Hamilton, I garnered methodologies for understanding strategic and financial challenges implicated healthcare firms at all levels. While a graduate administrative intern at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, I partnered to develop a cost containment process in the labor and delivery department. The capstone experience, a partnership with 3M Vietnam, allowed me to understand the difficulties of recruiting top-talent while learning from a culture different from my own.

Due to a monthly actual delivery variance of 2% to 12% (or 20 to 120 deliveries) from total projected, Prentice Women’s Hospital (PWH) prepared resources for deliveries that did not occur. PWH required a physician delivery projection system to minimize the monthly variance to nearly 0% so that nurse staffing levels and supply costs could appropriately match system demand. My final deliverable is expected to save approximately $260,000 annually in overstaffing and materials costs.
